all we have now is our time

From the bosom of North Ostrobothnia comes UKKI JON, a singer-songwriter with a yearning to be a worthy successor in a long line of world-changing artists. His music is a distinctive blend of Finnish melancholy and never-ending hope, wrapped in a blanket of thick acoustic guitars and honest vocals. He strives to make the listener question their priorities in life and to remind them to live for the things that truly matter.

UKKI JON is the solo project of experienced vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and composer Markus Pätsi, who hails from Oulu, Finland. He has been a professional musician for over a decade, and although he has loved arranging and performing his own adored versions of cover songs (for example, Iris by Goo Goo Dolls), the long-awaited moment has finally come for him to step out into the world performing his own songs. Although these songs are new to public ears, UKKI has carried them in his heart for most of his life.

UKKI JON’s artist name is a tribute to his late father, whose untimely death has been the driving force behind his desire to get his story out into the world.

Oh, but isn’t every death untimely?

Likely so. That’s why UKKI has found his mission is life: to remind us of the inevitable and arcane corridor of death into which all of us must journey. What still truly breaks UKKI’s heart is the fact that his father never got to meet UKKI’s daughter, having died before she was born. Don’t we all try to make most of the time we’ve got?

UKKI loves snowy mornings, Joe Hisaishi, late-autumn draughts, Foy Vance, Red Dead Redemption 2 and the rustle of fallen leaves almost as much as he loves his dear ones.
